Janik Vinnakota LLP will present on the various legal pitfalls startups face, including team development, protection of intellectual property, and corporate structure.
All three of these aspects are well known to experienced startup players, but as business and intellectual property litigators we bring a unique perspective on what investors tell us they really look for but not tell the startups, including protection of IP, and what really happens in eventual litigation if startups neglect to properly legally protect their company (whether it be business litigation, founder disputes / litigation, or IP litigation).
The key takeaway we want to explore is the synergy and interplay between startup innovation (IP development or processes), business (market forces/entry and seed or VC funding), and legal aspects (protection of patents, trademarks, trade secrets and corporate formation).
Austin Startup Week is supported in part by Capital Factory, Techstars, Galvanize, and Janik Vinnakota LLP. If you see someone from their teams, give them a hug and hi-five!
